Vehicle Definitions & Dimensions

So that Condor Ferries can make your journey as safe and comfortable as possible, we need to know the size of every vehicle onboard. The correct fare for your journey will vary depending on the size and type of your vehicle.

Commercial Vehicles, Vans & Goods

The fares quoted online are valid only for vehicles used for non-commercial purposes and do not apply to panel sided vehicles or any vehicle designed for the carriage of goods including household effects.

Passengers travelling with commercial goods carried in private vehicles or personal baggage with household effects requiring documentation and presentation to Customs and Excise will be charged a handling administration service and shipping manifest fee of £15 per journey payable at the port of departure.

Vehicle Dimension Supplements

Height
Condor Ferries does not currently charge height supplements, nevertheless it is important to declare the correct height as vehicles over 1.85m (inclusive of stored items on the roof) cannot be accommodated in all parking areas on the car deck.
Length
Condor Ferries currently charges small increments in price for vehicles above 4.5 metres in length. As an example if your vehicle is 4.8 metres long, you must select the appropriate ‘up to 5.5m’ vehicle length that best describes your vehicle.
Weight
Some private vehicle categories are getting heavier both by design plus their ability to carry more passengers and their effects. This increase in weight can adversely affect the consumption of fuel of our vessels. Accordingly, Condor Ferries currently charges a small supplement for MPVs and SUVs. Please note the maximum laden vehicle weight is 3.5 tonnes (equivalent to 2 tonnes axle weight) for our Fast Ferry services. Any vehicle exceeding this will be refused boarding.
Bicycle Racks
Condor Ferries charges a small supplement for rear bicycle racks. Bicycles stacked on the roof of vehicles/trailers are not currently charged for, but must be declared as part of the overall height of the vehicle or vehicle trailer.
